Charles Spitzack is a Seattle-based contemporary woodcut printmaker who teaches woodcut printmaking classes and workshops both in-person and online. His instruction focuses on traditional woodblock carving, mokuhanga, Japanese woodblock printing, and developing personal imagery through printmaking.
Workshops are offered through institutions including Pratt Fine Arts Center, Gage Academy of Art, Winslow Art Center, and regional print studios. Classes are open to beginners and experienced artists interested in learning woodcut, mokuhanga, and relief printmaking techniques.

Sitka’s Workshop Program welcomes people of all experience levels and backgrounds to experience the joy of making art and deepening our connection to nature on the Oregon Coast.
Draw inspiration from Sitka Center's stunning coastal landscape in this 3-day color woodcut printmaking class, open to all levels. We'll study notable West Coast woodcut artists like William Rice and Frances Gearhart, then head outdoors to sketch the surrounding forests, estuaries, and ocean views. And carve and print in the studio.

Safekeeping: Prints from Lake Whatcom Watershed
This two-day workshop explores the forests of the Lake Whatcom watershed through art, ecology, and advocacy. Participants will learn about the region's forests on a naturalist-led hike, study woodcut prints inspired by the watershed, and create their own multilayer color woodblock prints. Taught by woodcut artist Charles Spitzack, the workshop is open to all experience levels and serves as a fundraiser for the Whatcom Million Trees Project, supporting efforts to protect threatened forestland in the watershed.
